Cherry Trees
Cherry trees have a unique development process compared to other fruit trees. They tend to have less branching while concentrating on root development. This unique appearance is perfectly normal.
If you’re planting a sweet cherry tree, ensure its root system has proper drainage. Heavy, water-retentive soil (such as clay) can lead to issues. Choose your planting site carefully and plan ahead for rainy weather to avoid complications.
All tart cherries are self-fertile, so they do not require another cherry variety to help set fruit. Tart cherries should not be depended on to pollenize sweet cherries because they bloom much later than sweet cherries. Bloom time must overlap for good pollination.
