Strawberries! Everyone loves them and most gardeners want to learn to grow them. Dr. Russ Wallace will be us to discuss best practices for growing strawberries in Texas. Dr. Wallace has spent over 10 years in Lubbock conducting research trials on strawberries so he has the inside scoop! This workshop will cover variety selection, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, row covers, and harvesting.

The Urban Harvest: Food is all around us

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11th, 2023 at 11 AM

Discover our region’s most common edibles as you stroll through the green space here at Sorelle Farms. Daniel Cunningham (@TXPlantGuy) will provide an overview of safe, legal and responsible foraging practices, along with keys to plant identification, an overview of Texas foraging resources and specific uses — alongside the ethnobotanical history of specific plants encountered along the way. Then we’ll branch out on a short walking excursion to see some of the plants themselves growing all around us! Each participant will also receive a “cheat sheet” with a list and description of uses based on common edible plants that can be found in our community!
