Vine Fruit

Grapes typically break bud in early to mid-spring. If frost kills the new growth, it can prevent grape production for the year. Therefore, it’s important to protect grapevines from late frosts. You can delay bud break by applying dormant oil in late winter and postponing pruning, as early pruning can lead to early bud onset.

Note: Muscadines break bud later in the spring, but their new growth is very sensitive to frost and can freeze at around 30°F. Fortunately, muscadines often produce a second crop of blooms from secondary buds after a freeze.

Due to extreme heat across the south, we are currently not taking online plant orders. Our local retail nursery will remain open throughout the summer. Thanks for your patience, and we look forward to serving you again soon.
